Fine.
And just like that, Kickstarting is over! Thank you so, so much for your support yet again! If you’re a backer, don’t worry: we’ll be reaching out with surveys to fulfill your orders later in the year, so you haven’t missed anything from us! <3
We’ve been getting a lot of questions about whether or not we’re still doing this whole wedding thing since we’ve been quiet, and the answer is: Absolutely!!! If you need more info or want to see how things are going, check out The Queerest Wedding Ever’s page and if you haven’t RSVPed yet: do it now! We still haven’t finished all of the invitations and (budget-allowing) perhaps will be able to invite more people! Between you and me, we’re so goddamn excited to throw the weirdest, most fun wedding party possible!
That’s all for now! Thank you guys for being awesome!
Love and Kisses,
Stiffler and K
well, honestly, I think he needed to hear that. Or, perhaps not. Gaki certainly needed to say it, though…
Oh, my poor trash angel child. You needed to hear it. But still. ;o;
Looks like that got to him, here’s hoping it sticks.
Deserved. Simple as that. At least he actually has feelings so there is hope for change. I don’t expect it.
I feckin’ love Gaki, he’s probably my favourite character!
No. No, you don’t get to cry. I was tolerant of the “beliefs at odds with feelings” justification, right up until you threatened to kill a child.
No, that’s really what you just did, Arthur. You threatened to tell CE about Alice, and CE would have her destroyed. Why? Because you don’t want Gaki to tell CE about your damage, and you get suspended for a while. Oh, you tattle on me, I have your CHILD EXECUTED.
You are a scumbag and you have lost protagonist status. You do not get to be cast in a kind light. Your crying isn’t “conflict” as far as I’m concerned, it’s a sociopath not getting his way. Go to Hell.
Zero sympathy.
I know right! this is after Alice even called Gaki dad. he know he cares for her, and he tried to USE that against Gaki. he’s more of a monster than what CE would consider Alice in my book. She is sweet and love able. you almost had her and your friends DIE at the hands of the angel guy. but that threat was intentional NO APOLOGY NO UNDERSTANDING FOR HIS ANGER. Gaki said ” I can’t work with you anymore. I’m sorry,..” and that was reasonable. you provoked him more arthur and ruined that friendship. I don’t think gaki will forgive you ANYTIME soon or possibly ever.
I think Arthur was wrong to threaten Gaki using Alice, but I doubt he’d actually do it.
He’s probably just being overly defensive because Gaki called him out on his bullshit. That doesn’t excuse his actions, just makes them understandable.
It’s a great opening to create a very interesting villain out of Arthur. Many of the best villains are really just twisted up people with conflicts at damaging levels like this. He’s now at odds with all of his supposed friends, and seeing things more like the enemy.
I’m not sure whether it was your intention or not to make Arthur this unlikable… Either way, I feel nothing but satisfaction about him crying. Deserved.
Honestly, we want people to react to the characters however they prefer, it’s the fact that it creates an emotional reaction, which is the result we were hoping for. Just like in this particular case, his behavior might strike a chord for some people because that is the conflict they would feel, and on the other hand it might make people angry because they feel that his behavior is so removed from what they would do. It’s really all a matter of personal feelings, and as long as you’re not bored by the character, it’s a win for us. Whether you love him or hate him in this moment, it’s just gratifying to know you feel something about him. <3
I genuinely feel sorry for Arthur
well said Gaki, well said. you protect the ones you care for, Arthur is all about himself, and needed a swift boot in the arse…so to speak.
(sorry if English is bad, still learning it.)
I just realiized Athur and Gaki have parallel scars on their foreheads and contrasting eyes, Arthur’s being watery with tears and Gaki’s being red with anger. But I do hope they are able to reconcile, they are the best together.
You know, this had me curious to go back to when Arthur showed up at the party scene, and made me realize that Jinx had that reluctant “Uhhh” reaction when Mary tried to invite Arthur to join them. Just thought that was an interesting detail.
You know I kind of relate to Arthur. While I am not as extreme as he is, I do have my own morals and ideals that I hold close and defend against pretty much everyone. I don’t know how old Arthur is but he seems to be a teen and hasn’t been shown healthy relationships or been given much in the way of emotional support, as far as the comic goes.
Am I excusing him? No, he’s done some terrible things both to enemies and friends and there is totally reason for everyone to spite him. Still, I can’t help but feel as though he has reason to react the way he did. Even if he has to face the fact that his beliefs are different than what he wants, he has had them for far longer than the truth of what they really mean. Gaki seems to be the first person to tell him this in a long while and it’s going to be an uphill battle.
Can’t wait to see it!
Gaki was pissed, and I think he was right. Like… Arthur was acting all childish… And he almost got his friends killed because they’re “sinners”. I hope him to open his eyes now
Are those scars that are hiding under Arthur’s cuffs? Because it looks a lot like it…
Yes, we’ve seen them many times before. I assume they’re from his restraints in the asylum.
I feel sorry for Arthur being so conflicted by his faith- I’ve been down a similar road and it took a lot of searching to figure things out for myself and find some measure of balance and peace- there are some things I’m still figuring out but I don’t feel as hopeless and lost as I once did. I hope the kid does find that someday.
That being said, I also feel the mighty urge to punch him in the face. If his goal of that snarky line of his was to sever his ties with Gaki, then he might’ve succeeded beyond what he thought possible. There are some things that you never do with friends, and he crossed that line by threatening Gaki with telling the others about Alice- who despite being a vampire, is only a kid.
*sighs* And as much as I’d like to punch Arthur, that would only cause more problems and not solve anything. Wouldn’t mind having a Bible study session with him though.
To Stiffler and K- you are some fantastic frikkin writers. 🙂 And I will definitely be interested in what’s next to come.
While everyone else is really pissed about Arthur, I understand (somewhat?) why he didn’t immediately go to stop the angel, His personal beliefs stopped him and he thought for a moment, maybe the angel wasn’t so bad?
Gaki has every right to be absolutely PISSED, and every right to have said it, hell Arthur probably needed it!
Eh, I dunno, this is just how I perceived it.
Just curious, is there more pages later on or will they’re be more next month… Not trying to be rude and pressure you to hurry or anything.
Actually think Arthur is a pretty likeable character, he’s just gonna have to do some self evaluatin. He’s seen more shit than most people can comprehend and it hasn’t done good for his beans.
Some People Here dont like arthur i think But i Personals like ihm …for Reasons (sorry for my english)
Wow. Things are getting pretty intense. I love the characters A&K, they are all so unique and diverse. It’s a shame I only found this after the kickstarter closed! Any plans on selling a physical version of the comic post kickstarter?
Thanks so much! And no worries, the KS was for the ChaosLife book — the printing of FindChaos will likely be well into the future, and we’ll give lots of notice here on the site first! If you are interested in ChaosLife, however, we’ll likely have some books to sell after our KS backers receive theirs first. If you want to be on the waiting list for any potential spare books of the first run of printing, send an e-mail to Contact@FindChaos.com with the subject line “ChaosLife Book WaitList” and we’ll add you to the list! <3
Everyone is giving Arthur a hard time but I really like him. The whole situation kinda reminds me of the Trolley problem
Over the last few chapters, Arthur has lost the trust of Rémi, CE, Gaki, and probably Mary too… how many more people does he have in his support network? ‘Cause it ain’t gonna be long till he reaches the breaking point (again).
Still enjoying this comic years after first discovering it, which I feel really speaks to the quality of the storytelling and art alike.
For what it’s worth, some of the commentary is harsh. I see a boy, and actions consistent with those of a child.
His response to the situation at hand was quite typical of someone who sees the world in discrete black and white (damned beings bad, haloed beings good, in Arthur’s case), rather than shades of grey.
His tentative non-committal to the angel’s ideals where he plead for them, contrary to his beliefs, in pages 25 and 26 suggest that he’s on the precipice of a moment of clarity with respect to morality as a continuum.
Anyway, I giggled though at some of the replies speaking to Arthur as if he were real. ^_^
Let’s also throw into the mix apparently Alice was taken to the house of the guy who turned her into a vampire (and reading the subtext was most likely abused as well as killed… sorta…. and left for dead by him) BY THAT ANGEL GUY… Gaki’s parental rage levels were already at at least 11 long before Arthur mistook a heartfelt ‘you need help’ for the chance to say ‘if you tell on me, I’ll tell on you’…
He’s a broken child with adult-level responsibilities, a value system that he tries to apply to a world at odds with it, a job that boils down to ‘pummel the beings an authority figure tells you are bad until there’s no way they can hurt people back’, and poor interpersonal skills, honed in an asylum. Of course he finds it hard to think autonomously. Of course he gets it wrong sometimes.
I don’t think he’s a bad person – I think he tries very hard to be a good person – but I don’t think he’s stable, reliable, happy, or likely to get the help he needs any time soon, and I do think he can be dangerous.
This is literally the only website other than Facebook I look at on the Internet. Other than those two things (and banking, of course) I have no use for it. Thank you writing a compelling story I keep returning to.
