Arthur’s being totally unreasonable here. He’s been bitching at Raven for no good reason since he woke up, while Raven’s done nothing but cure him and then go out of his way to help him get to the labs like he wanted. I don’t blame him at all for defending himself verbally after all that. And then Arthur immediately physically assaults him for it?
Pfft, I wouldn’t want to associate with someone like that.
*nods* And I think he’s furious at Raven for committing the same ‘sin’, but not getting punished for it, and not seeming to be tormented by it. Arthur is a self-flagellant, he bears the inner and outer scars of his sins on his body and psyche — I think that Raven’s self-assured sociopathy has to grate on him.
And he’s deeply disgusted by the infected, so that’s another reason why he’s lashing out. It’s sort of . . . projection, I guess? Arthur is, in part, trying to hurt Raven for things he hates about himself.
A lot of self-hatred there too. Arthur got locked up for his “murders” but Raven as far as we know hasn’t. Arthur said he got away with it so I doubt he’d like it brought up in his face every time Raven’s around C.E..
I know I shouldn’t love Raven as much as I do, but he is an excellent character. His interactions, and the things people say or do around him make it very hard to tell his motives. Stellar writing, really.
They had another sibling. I’m not sure what happened, but I think the baby, and their parents became biters, and when Arthur and Tristan were attacked, it was a failed attempt to turn them into the same thing….or their dad just tried to kill everyone and he burnt the house with his dad and the corpses inside.
It seemed obvious to me that the ‘attack’ you’re talking about was his father raping him, there’s zero indication that he was a biter or attacked anyone violently in any way. (Except the sexual violence obviously). In fact his father was boiling a kettle when Arthur killed him, not something a feral biter would do.
That’s speculation of my own, but I actually think there was nothing supernatural about his father abusing Arthur – and I think that’s a the heart of Arthur’s tragedy. When he confesses at the beginning of the story, he says “he was possessed, I think.” But I think Arthur is wrong. Child Arthur, raised hardcore Catholic and devil-fearing, couldn’t explain why is father would do such a horrible thing to him. Instead of acknowledging that his father could have been capable of evil, he explained his behaviour by possession instead – and he burnt down the house to kill the “demon”. Except that I don’t think there was a demon to kill. It was just his father being a horrible person.
Oh Arthur. As time goes on I can’t tell if I feel more or less sorry for you. God damn kid you ALWAYS manage to back yourself in a corner with your person issues.
Given Raven’s wordless reaction when Aurthur starts talking about his parents, it makes me wonder if he’s really as sociopathic and unbothered by their deaths as people believe. Sure he does go back to being a smirking smarmy bastard but that’s probably how he deals with things. Hardly expected an emotional break from him in front of Arthur.
Or maybe it’s just bias because I am really liking Raven’s character and he’s starting to become one of my favorites.
Wow – This just keeps getting better and better; that said: Arthur needs to worry less, love Remi more and leave off the self flagellation [physical AND mental]… perhaps some comics would help… just sayin’
Actually, it’s a completely different term! “Patricide” is when you kill your father, “matricide” when you kill your mother, and “parricide” is when you’ve killed them both (or to refer to the murder of a single parent in an ungendered way). (most depressing “The More You Know” star flies past)
I just inhaled this whole comic in 3 days and I scrolled up to click the back button like “wait. my computer is frozen. It isn’t working. Oh my god I’m caught up *gross sobbing*
Sticks and stones may break your bones… but words leave psychological scars that never heal! 😀
😮
Well this won’t in any way end well, will it??
Chaos-99 We have a report of Shots Fired, whats your status?

That’s Arthur’s MO, though. He’s done horrible things, but since he isn’t infected he claims to be on a higher moral ground. It’s his biggest flaw.

Being a little bitch is the whole point of Arthur as a character. At least he will (probably) have his ass handed to him by Raven in the next page.
I really like his eyebrows

Tie is better for grip&punch!
ooo burn! Eh? Eh? ;D You get it? Because they died…
Raven has a point, here.
Oh snap. Implying there was a younger sibling too. :O
If you look in some of the early page you can see a family picture where there is a baby. =]
“Baby back ribs”… so was Arthur’s mother pregnant or something when the house fire went down?
To the Time Machine!!!!

What makes you think his father was a biter?

A desserved comeback for you, Arthur.

….

what does Raven mean by “baby ribs”,did a baby died on Arthur’s fire?
Curious, the other door code ended in a 2 also, wonder if there’s a pattern.

Agh, I want to know what happened with Mary and Fragile!! 🙁
Quick question, is the misspelling of ‘patricide’ deliberate or accidental?

Oh, my xDDDD Don’t care if Raven’s a raving mad psycho, his wordplays have won my heart.
Oi, Raven’s a savage.
