Yikes! The blood was so contaminated, he had to pull off his robotic hand? Gee, most of us just use gloves. When he did it, why did she feel it? And who is she? All the questions! I love this story arc. Excellent work, Dear K!
Those “camera” angles and details are magnificent, Dear A! A is for Awesome Art!
I think the “clank”/”ow!” is Jinx hitting her head on whatever piece of machinery she’s working on (it says she’s in the garage, she’s rewiring something, and the call distracted her.)
Jinx has had a couple of little cameos (at the funeral, talking to Gaki on video chat) before now, so hopefully she’ll be expanded-on soon.
What *I* want to know is WHO IS THIS GUY, WHAT’S UP WITH HIS INSIDES, AND HOW WAS HE ABLE TO REGROW HIS DISCARDED HAND??!? 😀
(I’m fascinated by the hand’s ability to “read” the contamination, if that’s what the lighted circuitry or angelic script[1] or whatever is going on means — and I’m assuming he removed the hand in order to avoid contaminating the entirety of his body.)
Mysteries, mysteries!
[1] I know that it’s not angelic script in the strictest sense, that’s just the term that came to mind . . . but it would be an interesting way to show that a character or creature was other-than-biological — bloodless, regenerative, and completely “other” on the inside.
Not saying he can’t be a robot or cyborg or construct (I’d be betting on the latter two), but it would be an interesting “swerve” to make us think “Oh, circuitry, he’s a robot” and then surprise us with him being something entirely different.
Wow, so he WAS robotic after all 😮 Great page
But I have a doubt. Why we see his hand being detached in the fourth panel, being destroyed (and attached) on the next panel, and finally detached and in one one piece in the end? O.o
I’m trying to figure out if he’s a robot, or if the sparks are magic of some kind — the regrowth definitely isn’t robotic (although it’s conceivable that he’s an advanced cyborg, I suppose.)
Since he’s a new/unnamed character (we saw him at the funeral, has he appeared anywhere else?), his abilities and heritage are unknown — but I’d guess biomech before robot, and biological-but-other-than-human before that.
I wonder how much of his body he could lose before he couldn’t regrow a new one. Does his brain (or processor) have to remain intact? If that was damaged, could it self-repair?
I’m thinking he only pulled his hand off as a precaution so that he doesn’t spread it himself, it probably couldn’t do him any harm. Just a glorified hand wash really.
Neat! My robot assumption was right, or at least close. He could very well be a full robot, but built with–or having incorporated–magic to be more advanced (and awesomely self-repairing) than most tech. Perhaps even given a soul, etc. But then, he could also be another form of nonhuman (as suggested in other comments here) that just appears robotic. The angel theory is very neat.
There are a lot of unanswered questions that leave his precise specifications up in the air, but having this page confirm at least some level of “actual robot” shows that A and K have done well to portray that, even though the previous clues have been subtle. 😀 Well done!
Also, I think I recall having either a suspicion or realization that Fragile was a vampire a long while ago, but I’m honestly not sure. If I did, I had forgotten, so I was surprised by the last page. XD
The suspense and mystery is so intense I keep getting this desire to drop the comic for a few months, then come back when I can read a lot all at once, but It’s so good I can’t stop myself reading.
I’m pretty sure he knew Arthur’s blood was contaminated before he put his finger in it, did he just want to show Jinx the hand as evidence to make sure she’d keep out of his workshop for some reason?
I think the hand he tore off is some sort of blood culture-type thing. The hand obviously reads something about the blood, and robot-man doesn’t want to walk around with contaminated blood on his hands, so he takes off his hand while it analyzes the blood.

He as a second hand which grown up whn he cut the first ?
(I suppose.)
Maybe he grew a new one? Only way I can think of.
I think the fifth panel shows a new hand forming, and the last panel shows the old discarded hand, still lying on the tabletop
He’s regrowing a new hand in the fifth panel.

Verrrry interesting, though! 😀

Why would he pour it on the desk like that…..?

He doesn’t seem too concerned with contamination, just leaving all the blood and hand there. What if it becomes sentient, like Thing?!!

Ok, we got a cyborg ladies and gentlemen. You don’t stop amazing me everytime I come to read the comic.
Looking forward to seeing more of Jinx in the future! (Fingers crossed)
Homunculus? I belive that an alchemist is suposed to have an spiritual connection to his/her creation, or maybe an familiar. .. same deal…
